Wordful Wednesday: Traveling Shoes — Toddler Style

April 14, 2010

Shane wanted desperately to head back outside one evening last week, during that remarkable stretch of summery weather we were enjoying (and I honestly can’t say that I blamed him…we had shorts-weather!).

He dug through the pile of shoes that had been kicked off just inside the door, and pulled out a pair that were quick and easy for him to slip on — The Traveling Shoes!

“Go, Mama! Go, please! Han go out! Please…”

After a moment’s debate, I helped him out of the Traveling Shoes and into his sneakers, and back outside we went.

The dishwasher remained unemptied, the laundry started to wrinkle in the dryer, and dinner was late, but how could I resist that imploring “Please,” that single tear?  Shane was right — it was more important to not waste even a moment of that wonderfully warm and sunny afternoon stuck indoors doing chores!

Photobucket(Pssst…please ignore the shopping bag dangling from the doorknob!
That’s just our recycle that’s waiting to be put in the bin on the deck)

Because I was incapable of leaving this photo wordless,
I’m linking up with this week’s Wordful Wednesday, hosted by Seven Clown Circus.
