Outdoor Challenge Mondays {Exploring the Shore}

May 18, 2010

Yesterday morning was spent at a local beach with our Mom’s group. While the sand was warm, the water was still numbingly cold…which didn’t stop my son or his friends.

Sneakers were shucked from little feet, jeans were rolled up to below knees, and children were set free to explore the shoreline. Shane was awestruck by the gentle waves lapping at his feet, and he marveled at the water-smoothed stones, sun-bleached shells, and dried clumps of crispy tangled seaweed he discovered in his explorations.

A half dozen damp, sandy, drowsy children were settled into car seats and headed home for lunch and naps — and more than likely some incredible dreams — after this particular play date!

Lisa @ 5 Orange Potatoes is hosting Outdoor Challenge Mondays, a challenge in which participants get their children outdoors, experiencing nature, every day (rain or shine!), and then post about the highlights of the previous week each Monday.  Check out this week’s post on her blog to see the outdoor adventures of those participating in this challenge!

(Yes, I know…I’m late again. It’s been one of those weeks already. Rather than stress over it being perpetually two steps behind,  I’m just going to let go and go with the flow…)

    Looks like your little guy had a wonderful morning! We enjoyed our own time on the beach after strawberry picking for Mother’s Day. My 2 year old was captivated watching the waves go in and out. There’s just something so soothing about the beach.

    Seriously. There is NOTHING like a morning by the shore to tire the little ones out. (Not to mention the moms).
    Love those sweet photos. Shane has that classic New England boy look going with the Red Sox cap and the rolled up (wet!) jeans. Love it! What a cutie.
